Is BIT for Me?

Brain Integration helps people of all ages improve the efficiency of their brain function and decrease their level of stress. While the goals of Brain Integration vary depending on the aspirations of each individual, Elizabeth’s clients range in age from infants to the elderly. Neuroplasticity means the brain can change and improve at any stage of life! You’re never too young or too old to enhance your brain function.

BIT helps people with a wide range of issues, including:

Learning Problems (ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia)
Brain Integration was initially developed to help with learning problems like ADD/ADHD and dyslexia. In Susan McCrossin’s research, including a 64-point electrode study, she discovered that BIT improves many of the challenges associated with learning difficulties. Some of these challenges are:

  • Memory, focus, and concentration
  • Spelling, reading, and math skills
  • Planning and multi-tasking
  • Executive Functioning

Brain Integration helps improve these challenges by increasing the efficiency with which the brain processes information. The external disorganization demonstrated by people with learning difficulties, auditory processing disorders, executive functioning difficulties, speech disorders, and poor working memory reflects the internal disorganization of their brain function.

By organizing first global processing and then the discrete brain functions of speech, the limbic system, visual and auditory processing, and the vestibular system, Brain Integration can help. When all systems in the brain are working correctly, learning becomes much easier.

One of the most common challenges for those with learning difficulties is poor eye tracking. Some modalities work on eye tracking through the use of eye exercises. Brain Integration is different. BIT dramatically and consistently improves eye-tracking abilities, by reconnecting the brain’s the motor pathways so the brain and the eyes start “talking” to each other again. The result is that eye motion becomes smooth and fluid, which in turn improves the client’s ability to focus and concentrate. Once the brain easily communicates to the eyes, correct motor movement becomes automatic, reading comprehension and retention becomes significantly easier.

Emotional Difficulties (Anxiety, Grief, PTSD)
Brain Integration helps those suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief, autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, and mood disorders, by finding the source of the stress creating the issue and then resolving it. In many cases, these emotional difficulties are the result of trauma leaving people locked in a hyper vigilant state. Elizabeth also works with adoption-related issues, sexuality and gender identity, anorexia and bulimia, and bullying. Brain Integration alleviates emotional difficulty by balancing the Limbic System, the emotional heart of the brain. Once the primal flight/fight/freeze response is neutralized through BIT, the brain is freed from cyclical thinking, and it becomes possible to see your own way to new solutions and possibilities.

As with every kind of challenge, there are always multiple causes and multiple solutions to emotional difficulties. Brain Integration makes sure that the limbic system is calm, the eyes are perceiving the world accurately, the ears are hearing what is truly being said, the vestibular system is balanced and grounded, and all systems are working together efficiently. When efficiency, organization, and focused calm combine, people feel better!

Brain Injuries (Concussion, Stroke, and TBI)
The recovery from a traumatic brain event can be slow and frustrating, even years after the initial injury. Brain Integration helps those suffering from concussions, whiplash, strokes, closed head traumas, and brain injuries, by restoring order to the brain after impairment. The stress of head trauma leads to confusion, slowness of speech, headaches, sensitivity to light and sound, lack of personality, difficulty with mobility and balancing, and increased frustration. By removing the stress caused by the injury, Brain Integration allows people to feel like themselves again.

Physical Challenges
After an injury, many people notice that the strength they had previously just isn’t there anymore. Even after extensive physical therapy, the coordination, flexibility, and physical confidence of the injured area seems out of reach. This is the result of brain disconnection! Just like circuit breakers in a home are designed to trip and turn off the power when they get overloaded, so do our brains temporarily “turn off” the electricity when we get injured. The problem comes when we heal, and the brain doesn’t realize it’s time to turn the power back on.

Muscle ReActivation is the part of Brain Integration that allows the brain to reconnect to over 210 different specific muscle groups. By muscle testing each of the muscles relevant to the injured area, Brain Integration can find the muscles that don’t have strong, consistent power from the brain. It’s like flipping the switch in the fuse box! Once this connection is reset, the injured area immediately feels stronger, more flexible, and has significantly decreased pain.

Environmental Stressors
There are many different kinds of stress that overload the brain and make things work less efficiently. One such stress comes from the environment in the form of allergies. Allergies are a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system. They can manifest themselves as skin rashes, difficulty breathing, sneezing, digestive problems, and even behavior and mood changes. For truly toxic substances, the allergic reaction is the brain’s way of communicating, “Get away!” The problem comes when this sensitivity becomes generalized to otherwise harmless substances like pollen, dust, and various foods. When minor environmental irritants overwhelm the immune system as the result of an allergic reaction, the brain stops functioning normally. Using Applied Kinesiology and Acupressure, BIT can determine the exact substances the body is allergic to. Brain Integration then helps deactivate the allergic reaction, allowing people to respond to the environment with greater ease.
